Introduction to modeling techniques. Modeling of physiological systems. Control theory for linear and non-linear systems. Analysis and identification of open-loop and closed-loop physiological systems. Physiological systems simulation and control based on artificial intelligence methods. Applications from cardiovascular, respiratory and metabolism system. Analysis and simulation of physiological systems using specific software package. Computational requirements and architectures.
Course objectives
  • Comprehension of the concepts and methods of mathematical modeling.
  • Applying them to biological and physiologic systems.
  • Developing source code for computational implementation modeling methods.
  • Analyzing physiological and Biological system and recognizing the concepts and methods of modeling.
  • Comprehension and analysis of their analogies (eg. analogy between electric and fluid mechanic systems, applied to respiratory system, or human circulation).
  • Assessing the usefulness and applicability of the mathematical models in Medicine and Biology.
