Transition from Pedagogy to Educational Sciences. Evolution of Educational Sciences in the international arena and in Greece. Research in Educational Sciences’ field. Scientific tools and research perspectives. Research examples, various factors that determine research, reference to related texts, reference to Educational Sciences’ scientific object. Overview of educational streams and their gradual evolution from the early 20th century to nowadays (the New Education Movement, Dewey, Montessori, Freinet, Neil). Development of pedagogical thought in Greece and issues that Greek educators dealt with (Glinos, Delmouzos, Triantaphillides, educational programs, critical pedagogy, intercultural education).
Course objectives
  • Students will be able to express themselves freely and critically on educational issues
  • Will be able to think on conditions and consequences of the pedagogical process
  • Will be able to clarify terms as regards Educational science
  • Will be able to understand the educational process
  • Will be able to identify the characteristics of pedagogical phenomena and the causes of various pedagogical issues
